Results studied from scientists across the globe, evidence shows that the human growth hormone "makes the worst athletes the best."
According to the latest Australian studies, enhanced performance, due to the intake of human growth hormone, was moderate, and it has specific influence on athletes who participated in the sprint events, including, swimming or running, involving a final burst of strength because in these events a difference of half a second can help to determine the winner.
The use of human growth hormone,(HGH), is strictly prohibited by the Olympic committee as well as by various other pro sports even though no sound evidence existed until now that it has the capability to boost performance.
The latest university study tested HGH in approximately 100 athletes over a four month period and has shown substantial
evidence that human growth hormone enhances athletic performance making its ban from professional sports justifiable.
The growth hormone is produced by the human pituitary gland and encourages the development of tissues and bones. It is also manufactured artificially; however its use is limited to specific conditions among adults and children, like those having growth hormone deficiency, AIDS virus and short stature.
HGH is currently injected by athletes for its muscle building enhancement performance. Moreover HGH is also much harder to test for and is only detected in a blood test as compared to other substances found with a urinalysis.
A British rugby player was suspended recently due to the use of growth hormone. A handful of pro baseball players also have confessed to taking growth hormone.
The most current case study done by scientists at Frankfurt University on 103 female and male athletes ages 18 to 40. The subjects were given HGH injections or placebo over a four month period. A few of the male athletes were also given testosterone as it was frequently used along with HGH.
The subjects were tested on a variety of performane excercises including weight lifting, biking, and jumping exercises . The results showed the most enhancement in bicycle racing. There was a 4 percent boost in bicycling speed for those athletes who were injected with the growth hormone while an 8 percent boost for those who were given testosterone shots. to cut off nearly half a second time during a 10-second race covering 100 meters. That short time difference helps to separate the champion from others.
